  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Dave reviews the early days of packet in Iowa, and tries to look forward to the future of the mode.  He also covers some of the new technology available to us through the Internet. 
  • "A Mitrek Repeater, Part 3" by Michael Muldoon.  Here we get to the duplexing of the radio, and tying in a controller.

  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, takes a look at packet activity and gives an update on the LINK, AMSAT's Phase 3 D, and mentions a 220 Mhz project. 
  • "Calling All Couch Potatoes", by Randy Nelson, WB0VHB, is a infrared controller project and review. 
February 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, talks about the need for a Constitution and By-Laws as part of our effort to gain ARRL affiliation.  He also is getting ready to try a heat gun for mass unsoldering in the shack 
  • "The HAWK Net is Now Operational" by Michael Muldoon, KE0BX, gives an introduction to the amatuer packet radio/ fiber-optic network intertie in Iowa. 
March 1997
  • "Tuning FM Radios, Part 1" by Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, begins a series on the same! 
  • "Using the HAWK Net" by Michael Muldoon, KE0BX, goes into the mechanics of using the ROSE switches on the network. 
  • Announceent of the launch of RS-16! 
April 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, unveils a proposal to add to the LINK in the Keokuk area, and brings us up to speed on the Modulation Meter Project. 
  • "Tuning FM Radios, Part 2" by Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, spends some more time on tuning both receivers and transmitters. 
May 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, brings updates on the Keokuk LINK and Modulation Meter projects. 
  • "Weather Wise" by Bill Hays, W0OMV, talks about the interaction between hams and the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities area. 
  • "SEITS and the Net" by Dave Helton, KD0YU, covers the background and personnel involve with our presence on the World Wide Web. 
  • "Power Measurement and a Simple Dummy Load/ Watt Meter" by Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Discussion and a simple project. 
June 1997 July 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  A slow month for everything.  Dave reports the progress on the Mod Meter and Keokuk projects, talks about the new SEITS email reflector, and introduces the idea of SEITS taking part in a contest. 
August 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Topics this month include the web page, more progress on the Mod Meter, and some members experiments with transverters. 
  • "Tuning FM Radios, Part 3" by Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, delves into feed line and antenna systems and their proper tune up. 
September 1997
  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Discussion on the micropreocessor controller for the Mod Meter, a Keokuk update, and introduction of the proposed constitution. 
  • "Tuning FM Radios, Part 4" by Dave Metz, WA0AUQ, looks at the feedline and antenna end of tuning up your station.

November 1997

  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Discussions on 6 meter AM, Amsat P3D, operations on 5.7 Ghz, pre-amps, and updates on the Keokuk link and the modulation meter project. 
  • "NBS Time and Frequency Dissemination Services, Part 2" by Michael Muldoon, KE0BX

  • Presidential Notes - President Dave Metz, WA0AUQ.  Regenative receivers, 6 meter transmitters, and updates on the web site, Keokuk Link, and the modulation meter. 
  • "Net-I-Net" introduces a new net on the SEITS LINK system.
